MEET THE TEAM
Charlie Wu has served as Managing Director of Asian-Canadian Special Events Association since 2004, bringing extensive experience in non-profit arts organizations, marketing, and sponsorship, leading the organization in new directions. In his time as Managing Director, Wu has expanded the organization’s partnerships with other community and arts organizations such as the PuSh Festival, Vancouver International Children’s Festival, and Downtown Vancouver BIA. Under Wu’s direction ACSEA’s main annual event in TAIWANfest was awarded six consecutive Best Cultural Festival Awards by Canadian Events Industry and successfully expanded to downtown Toronto, establishing an invaluable partnership with Harbourfront Centre. TAIWANfest’s success resulted in ACSEA developing LunarFest for the Vancouver 2010 Cultural Olympiad, resulting in a Top Ten event that remains an annual celebration.
Wu was also recognized in 2006 by the province of British Columbia as one of the 100 Most Influential Chinese-Canadians and awarded the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Medal by International Trade Minister Ed Fast for his contribution to Canada’s Asian Pacific development. Wu has also served on the City of Vancouver’s Arts and Culture Policy Advisory Council from 2013 – 2015.
